"A Poet's Creed" by Borges was an easy reading which was easy to relate to. The first thing I thought to be interesting was when he said, "I suppose there should be as many creed, as many religions, as there are poets" because a creed is something that you believe in. In any religion there will be different creeds of what that religion believes in, and every poet or theorists, will have their different point of view as well. I also agreed when he was talking about words how we know what they mean, but sometimes they are interpreted differently. Like in Roberts Frost's poem: "For I have promises to keep And miles to go before I sleep And miles to go before I sleep" I would not have known how poetic that was until now. I now see and understand that saying "And miles to go before I sleep" has a second meaning which is interpreted by how you say the phrase, and also if one "feels the implication."
Borges expresses so much in writing, one of the things that stood out from reading this story was the idea that "we are modern because we are alive". I have never thought of life that way, it made me realize all the things we do are because we are not dead, but yet we are afraid to die. He also argues that when you sleep you are dead since you are not doing anything with your life.
